A dad of two has scooped a USD 5 million payout after hitting the jackpot on a lotto 50-year anniversary scratchcard.

The player – from the city of New Carrollton, Maryland State, USA – says he will blow some of the cash on a party.
But put most of it aside for his children’s education and to pay off the mortgage on the family home.
He said he was eager to try out the lottery’s brand new USD 50 (GBP 41) ’50 Years!’ scratch-off, which was released to celebrate the lottery’s 50th anniversary on 20th February.
He reportedly bought the ticket at the Liquor City store at 9115 Annapolis Road in the community of Lanham, Prince George’s County.
He told lottery officials he was “very surprised” when he scratched off the ticket’s panels and found he had won the jackpot.

The winner – who wanted to be known only as ‘Happy Dad’ – collect his prize at Maryland Lottery in Baltimore on Monday, 13th March.
He said his previous biggest win had been USD 1,000.
Maryland Lottery said in a statement obtained by Newsflash: “;Happy Dad’ is the first person to win that top prize, leaving nine at the USD 100,000 [GBP 82,254] level, six at the USD 50,000 [GBP 41,127] level and 80 at the USD 10,000 [GBP 8,225] level.”
