Dad Kills Daughter, 7, By Slitting Her Throat After Posting Cute Pic Saying He Loves Her

This photograph showing a dad and his seven-year-old daughter, that he captioned with “I love you so much my beautiful girl”, is the last one he posted before allegedly slitting her throat.

The dad, who is a women’s hairdresser with a significant social media presence, had it seems been ordered to stay away from his family with a restraining order that was imposed for unknown reasons.

The incident took place in the Pendik district of Turkey’s largest city Istanbul, on the Asian side of the city after the man had collected the girl, Defne Ozturk, from her grandmother.

The man, who has been named as Habip Oeztuerk, returned to Istanbul from working abroad two months ago, and tried to take his own life with the same blade after allegedly murdering his young daughter, according to local media outlet Haberler.

The newspaper reports that Oeztuerk was subject to a restraining order to stay away from his wife.

Four hours before the murder, the dad, who works as a women’s hairdresser and has a significant social media presence with 216,000 followers, posted two photographs showing him and his daughter, and in one of the photos he can be seen even kissing her on the cheek.

The father, who reportedly later attempted to kill himself using the same blade, was taken to hospital where he was operated on. His condition is thought to still be serious.

It is unclear if Oeztuerk has been formally charged. The investigation is ongoing.
