This is the moment a dad helps his young daughter out of his car seconds before it is rammed by a 4WD that smashes it out of sight.
The man, identified in local media as Waseem Haidar, had stopped at a bakery to pick up bread with his wife and child in Zahle district, in the Beqaa governorate, in central Lebanon.
The video does not show his wife, as she was still in the car when the 4WD – driven by another unidentified woman – smashed into it, but she luckily escaped with only minor injuries, local media reported.
Haidar can be seen in the video taking his daughter out and closing the back door before moving towards the driver’s door to do the same when the other vehicle violently crashes into his car.
According to local media, the car that caused the collision was being driven by a female driver and her two daughters.
The woman who was not identified in local media, reportedly suffered a broken leg.
There are no reports of any charges being filed against the female driver.
According to Yasa International, a road safety organisation, in Lebanon in 2018, some 450 people died while 6,700 suffered injuries resulting from 5,000 road accidents.
