Dad Geolocates Missing Son And Finds Him Dead In Road Accident

A father is grieving after he geolocated his teenage son on his smartphone when he failed to arrive home for dinner and then found him lying dead in the road at the location.

The tragic incident took place in the northern Italian city of Padua in the evening.

Nicola Cesarato started to worry when his son, Piergianni, called him to tell him he would shortly arrive home for dinner and then failed to show up.

He decided to geolocate the 17-year-old’s mobile phone using his own phone, and he saw the signal was motionless on a busy stretch of road.

He drove to the location where he came across an ambulance and saw his son’s crumpled motorbike on the ground and a body covered by a white sheet.

Piergianni was killed when he collided with a van, which had turned into his path without the driver noticing the oncoming motorbike.

Nicola blames himself for the accident, as he bought the motorbike for his son as a reward for his good marks at school despite the boy’s mother having strong reservations.

The Yamaha 125 “was his dream”, says Nicola.

Aside from his academic prowess, Piergianni was a keen basketball player and had been shooting hoops shortly before the incident took place.

He had many friends and was in a happy relationship with a girl, according to his grieving family.

The van driver was subjected to a breathalyser test, which came back negative. He will be investigated for vehicular homicide.
