This Brazilian dad has spent 50 hours creating this “sanitising cabin” – with built-in shower – between his garage and his house to help keep his family safe from COVID-19.

Wellington Vaz created the special cabin in front of the front door to his home in what appears to be his garage in the Vicente Peres area of Brazil’s Federal District to keep his 65-year-old mother and 21-year-old daughter safe during the COVID-19 crisis.

Vaz told local media: “I was in traffic when I came up with the idea of making the cabin. I stopped the car and made a quick outline on my phone, and the next day I started to get the project moving.”

The cabin is complete with a shower, an area for dirty clothing, and lots of alcohol gel. Vaz says it took him 50 hours to create the area and guarantee it worked he sent it to a friend who is a doctor to analyse.

He said: “He (the doctor) loved the idea and even spoke to infectologists. They all thought the idea was great and helped me with everything involving the hygiene of the cabin.”

Vaz says his doctor friend then came to his house to test the cabin, named the ‘Silimp’, and “everything was approved”.

The cabin works by the user first walking into a room to sterilise their personal objects and take off their dirty clothes.

They then take a shower with soap before entering the ‘clean’ room with fresh towels, clothing and shoes.

When asked how much it cost he said: “It doesn’t matter if it was expensive or cheap, what’s important for me is what is inside: the health of my family.

“The price paid for having your family at home with health and safety is not important for me”
