This is the moment a speeding car cuts a swathe through a mass of bikers waiting for the lights to change on the street in China, sending them and their vehicles flying.

The incident happened at the intersection of Xuefu Road and Jiaoshan Road, in the city of Zhenjiang, in the Chinese province of Jiangsu, on 29th March.

In the CCTV footage, several people on electric bicycles can be seen in a lane waiting for the red light to change when a speeding red car suddenly appears from behind them, knocking over several bikers and sending their vehicles flying as it continues travelling for several metres.

After pushing the debris in front of it, the car then stops in the middle of the road.

The Zhenjiang Public Security Bureau said that security personnel immediately arrived on the scene, and four injured people were taken to hospital.

According to reports, the victims sustained injuries that were not life-threatening.

The 43-year-old motorist from Zhenjiang was apprehended at the scene. He was identified only by the name Zhu.

The reason for the accident has not been reported. The investigation is continuing and police have not confirmed what charges the driver is facing.

Only a few days earlier, another incident happened, in which a speeding car careered onto the pavement, instantly smashing everything in front of it, leaving one dead and two badly injured.

The incident happened in the city of Hangzhou, in the Chinese province of Zhejiang, on 24th March.

In the video, a few cars can be seen parked on the street, while several motorbikes are on the pavement.

A man is seen relaxing on a chair on the pavement, and he has no time to get out of the way as a speeding white car suddenly ploughs into him, grinding to a halt a short distance later.
