These cute videos show an adorable baby elephant frolicking in her new surroundings and drinking from her mum after being born last week at a German zoo.
The baby girl, born last week, at Halle Zoo in the city if Halle in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt, is yet to be given a name, but tipped the scales as 92 kilogrammes (202 lbs) at birth and measured 83 centimetres (32.6 inches).
The African elephant is yet to be put on show for zoo visitors as she gets to know her mother Tana, 18, sibling Tamika, 3, and her new surroundings.
The father Abu, 18, is separated from the mother and baby as is normal in zoos.
Zoo spokesman Tom Bernheim said: “They are together all the time and are growing together as a family. The little girl is drinking and sleeping a lot, but has also learned to move quite fast already.
“When the animals will be allowed back in the outside zoo enclosure will depend upon the weather and making sure there are no dangers for the baby elephant in the enclosure. But if all goes well, the baby could be on show by the start of the Autumn school holidays.”
Just after the birth the elephant was separated from her mother briefly to check her health as well as completely free her from the membrane after birth.
A short while later they were reunited and the elephant calf began to drink from her mother.
The zoo said that in the videos the elephant can be seen learning to walk, drinking from her mother, as well as getting plashed by water from their trunks.
