This is the adorable Russian animal – known as a sable – which was rescued from a fur farm by a kindhearted woman and has now become a social media superstar with over 158,000 followers on Instagram.

Russian woman Eugenia Fedorchenko, 25, from the capital city of Moscow decided to adopt a sable, a small carnivorous mammal, as a pet after coming across an article on the fur trade and an Instagram page dedicated to the adopted animal now has over 158,000 followers.

She said in an exclusive interview with Central European News (CEN): “I accidentally came across an advertisement with sables for sale. I fell in love with this cute face.”

Her next step was to study some literature about taking care of sables, saying that a lot of information that was provided turned out to be untrue.

Eugenia told CEN: “This is when I thought that I might get a sable one day.”

She notes that some of the advertisements that she saw seemed a little strange and one thing that was clear for her was that she would not “work with hunters”.

“Some years later, when I had completely forgotten about this idea, I accidentally heard that one can buy sables from animal fur farms.

“Although they are not tamed there, I decided that at least I could buy one and save it.”

Eugenia claims that the bonding process did not go too smoothly after she bought her sable named Umora.

“Umora did not want to make contact for a long time, she would bite, scratch and constantly growl.”

She told CEN that during their first month together she had to hand-feed Umora, played with her all the time and was trying to assure the pet that it was safe for her.

Eugenia also added that the time at the fur coat farm did not go unnoticed for Umora: “She had a damaged psyche and it was hard with her.”

Only after two years together, Eugenia started feeling that her pet has warmed to her, and they are getting comfortable living together.

“Umora is very nervous, vindictive and hyperactive.”

The patient owner added she has managed to build trust with Umora: “I cut her claws, brush her fur, do injections and brush her teeth.”

Umora has even started controlling her biting and currently can carry out six different commands.

Every now and then Umora reportedly goes to her loving owner to give her a lick of appreciation.

Eugenia stressed to CEN that she wants people to change their attitude towards fury friends.

“These animals are no worse than our beloved cats and dogs. Many people will refuse to wear fur coats after seeing this living sable.”

She concluded that this is the main reason why she posts on social media.
