This is the moment curvy Brazilian model Michelle Carvalho uses a broom to bash a thief trying to rob her flatmate’s bag.

The incident was filmed near the Pedro de Valdivia tube station in the central Chilean capital Santiago, and the footage was later posted on the model’s Instagram account where she boasts 1.1 million followers.

In the footage, viewed nearly 150,000 times, the 26-year-old curvy model is seen walking with her flatmate Alicia Vial who is pushing a shopping trolley along the walkway.

As the pair, wearing face masks, wheels the trolley into a building entrance, a man in a pink T-shirt appears to try to help.

However, he suddenly makes a grab for Vial’s handbag and violently yanks her into the walkway.

Meanwhile, Carvalho rushes out while brandishing a broom which she uses to whack the man over the back several times.

In his haste, the thief drops the bag on the floor and Vial picks it up.

According to reports, the suspect got away with Vial’s mobile phone which fell out of her bag during the struggle.

Carvalho told local media: “Everything happened in 10 seconds, I did not have time to think about anything, I did not even drop the box of glasses I had in my other hand. I just hit him with the broomstick.”

She added: “I later spoke with everyone around and I asked why nobody helped. People stood there just looking. One of them even laughed, it was bad.”

It is unclear if the robber has been identified or arrested.
