This is the moment a huge fire quickly rises up from the base of a residential tower and reaches the top in minutes as crying children try to warn the residents inside.

The blaze happened in the city of Kaifeng in Central China’s Henan Province and was reported by nearby witnesses who can be heard shouting in the distressing clip.

The footage shows numerous young children, who were watching the blaze with their parents, shouting towards the burning building in an apparent attempt to warn them.

They scream: “Fire! It’s on fire!” as the flames start on the second floor and quickly spread up the centre of the tower block through what appears to be a stairwell.

In just two minutes, the blaze spread to the top floor of the building and the children’s cries turn to sobs as they continue to shout: “Fire! Fire!”

The local fire service arrived on the scene minutes later and said they managed to extinguish the flames just 16 minutes later.

Fortunately, none of the residents were injured as they managed to evacuate after the fire alarm went off at roughly 7:40pm on 14th March.

The cause of the blaze is still under investigation, but reports have suggested a charging electric scooter may be to blame.
