This is the moment a cruel cat owner grabs his moggy by the back of the neck and hits it until it begins wetting itself out of fear.

The clip was uploaded to social media by the unnamed woman who filmed it in and has since been widely shared on social media groups in Singapore.

In the video, a man can be seen grabbing his ginger cat by the scruff of the neck before he hits its hind legs.

The man says “if you pee, I will hit you” as a small trail of urine can be seen on the floor before the video, which was first posted on Instagram, presumably as an Instagram story (where the videos are very short), then jumps to show a larger pool of urine as the man continues grabbing the moggy by the neck before lifting it to its feet.

A woman can be heard laughing in the background and the video was later posted online before being shared on the Sayang Our Singapore’s Community Cats page on Facebook.

The Singapore Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) confirmed to local media that the incident had been reported to them.

They said they had contacted the owner of the cat and the case is currently under investigation.

The SPCA said it was “very likely” that the cat in the video had been urinating out of fear.

They added in a statement: “There is no need to shout at, terrify or beat an animal in the name of training. This old school approach is completely counterproductive.

“There are effective humane and science based methods to train an animal. If any pet owner wants to find out more, they can contact the SPCA.”

It is unclear if the case has been reported to the authorities.
