This footage shows a nursery school girl being thrown out of her classroom for allegedly misbehaving before her teacher kicks her in the stomach when she tries to go back inside.
The incident was captured by a CCTV camera at Boyang Kindergarten in Lanshan District in Linyi, a city in East China’s Shandong Province, on 30th October.
In the footage leaked online on 6th November, the four-year-old girl is seen standing in the corridor after having been expelled from her classroom for allegedly fighting with another pupil, who appears to be a boy standing nearby.
The teacher, who has not been named, throws their rucksacks as well as their chairs at them before walking back inside.
But when the girl grabs her chair and bag, and starts walking back inside, her teacher boots her in the stomach and sends her flying backwards into the corridor once more.
The school’s director, Ms Liu, told local media: “The girl had been misbehaving and fighting with another child. The teacher lost her temper and kicked her.
“We dealt with the incident on the same day and dismissed her.
“The police were involved in the subsequent mediation after a family member attacked the teacher, too.
“In the end, we compensated the family 22,000 RMB (2,415 GBP).
“The girl’s mother said she was ‘very satisfied’ with the way we handled the matter, and told the authorities she did not wish to press further charges.”
However, the girl’s mother, who did not give her name, said in a separate statement in response to the director’s claims: “I had planned to take legal action against the school, but the police said I would then have to be detained too because I struck the teacher.
“That would’ve given me a criminal record, which could negatively affect my child in the future.
“Concerned that I would jeopardise my daughter’s future, I decided not to pursue the matter any further.”
Local authorities confirmed that the matter was dealt with privately among the two parties in the end.
A Lanshan Education Bureau spokesperson said the school was censured, but no further action was taken against the nursery school.
It was unclear whether the teacher would be allowed to work in the same profession again.
