Local media said the incident took place on 10th January in the village of Beurawe in Kuta Alam.

In the clip, a young boy is seen hanging upside down with material tied around his ankles while his head just about manages to rest on the mattress.

Reports said that several women were in the property at the time of the incident and cops have already started questioning witnesses regarding the matter.

Police chief Miftahuda Dizha Fezuono said that five women have so far given statements while seven others are expected to be quizzed soon, including the person who shared the footage on social media.

Before the video was widely circulated, the police chief explained that the village community resolved the matter in a meeting involving the mum, village leaders, local police officers, social services officials and various witnesses.

He added: “The incident took place almost two weeks ago, but why is the footage circulating now? We will check if there was an element of crime involved. The police will also question the person who circulated the video. At the moment, we’re currently investigating the case.”

According to the police, they have already question the 26-year-old single mother, identified as N.H., who claimed she left her eight-year-old son, with the initials A.A.F., hanging by his feet as she went shopping.

The mother reportedly said it was punishment for not asking for her permission to play with pals after school.

The investigation continues.
