Hello Kitty-mad fans have been queuing around the block since the early hours of the morning just to get their hands on a new McDonald’s bag featuring their favourite animated star.

Hello Kitty fever has returned to the island city-state of Singapore after McDonald’s offered limited-edition Hello Kitty meal carriers for 7.9 SGD (4.5 GBP) with every purchase of an extra value meal or Double Feast burgers.

The carriers went on sale at stores all over Singapore with the exception of those based in Shell petrol stations in Tampines and Hougang and one kiosk in the Tampines bus interchange, according to local media.

The Hello Kitty product fits a regular-sized drink and large fries and is not sold online.

Each customer is limited to two carriers per order and they are only available at the store counter.

In the photos, queues are seen forming around the black in Chinatown Point, Sengkang, Tampines and Braddell as early as 5.45 am.

However, despite the precautions, netizens reported that there are plenty of carriers available and they do not appear to be selling out anytime soon.

Instagram user ‘Viivienw’ said: “I got it again in less than 10 minutes.”

Facebook page ‘Singapore Atrium Sale’ commented: “Stocks are still available and there are no queues at almost all McDonald’s stores.”

Facebook user ‘Joanna Ash’ posted a video of her taking a Hello Kitty meal carrier out of the box in a McDonald’s store, as seen in the footage.

Hello Kitty, also known by her full name Kitty White, is a fictional character produced by the Japanese company Sanrio.
