A frisky couple have almost drowned after they were reportedly caught bonking on the hard shoulder before trying to escape from pursuing traffic cops and ending up in a large pond.

The incident took place on the Butterworth Highway near the town of Butterworth in the north-western Malaysian state of Penang when the frisky lovebirds reportedly pulled over to make love on the hard shoulder.

However, the unnamed 19-year-old man and his 25-year-old partner were spotted by local cops who thought they had broken down.

A police spokesperson confirmed that the officers approached the vehicle to offer assistance, but the couple became “very alarmed” and fled the scene.

The amorous couple, who are both students at the Giat Mara College, then failed to stop at a tollbooth before “colliding with a motorbike going in the same direction”, according to the police.

After the accident, the couple’s car veered off the road and ended up in a large pond where it began to sink.

The police said the “two suspects were rescued from the sinking car” while the biker, who suffered a fractured foot in the incident, was taken to hospital for medical treatment.

The driver of the car tested negative for drugs and alcohol, according to the police.

Meanwhile, local media said the couple did not commit an offence by having sex in the car, but they are both being investigated for reckless driving and causing serious injury.
