This is the shocking moment a motorist can be seen handing what appears to be a wad of cash to a Mexican police officer who has been slammed as “corrupt” as the car then drives off a short while later.
According to reports, the cop is suspected of taking a bribe after stopping the driver, accepting an offer through the car window and then letting the man go.
The incident was filmed by an unnamed female witness from a nearby office window in the city of Monterrey in the north-eastern Mexican state of Nuevo Leon.
The video has been shared on Facebook and viewed over 213,000 times.
In the footage, the car driver is seen parked on the side of the road as he appears to count banknotes as the cop waits by the window.
The motorist then appears to hand the cop the cash with his documents.
The officer, whose name has not been disclosed, walks back to his patrol car before returning to the motorist’s window to talk for a moment.
At the end of the clip, both cars drive away from the scene.
According to local media, the police officer has been suspended as an investigation gets underway.
Netizen ‘Jose Rolando Ramos Rodriguez’ commented: “The corruption here is also carried out by the resident, not just the official. He should be punished too.”
‘Irving Arellano Balandrano’ said: “I have never seen anything like this before.”
