This is the touching moment cops give flowers and a cake to an elderly woman on her 100th birthday in coronavirus lockdown.

Felisa Salazar was forced to cancel the birthday party she had planned to celebrate with her family in the city of Cali, in the western Colombian department of Valle del Cauca because of the country’s coronavirus lockdown.

However, a group of local police heard about the situation through her granddaughter and agreed to throw a surprise party.

The woman’s relatives were given permission to go to the pensioner’s house on her birthday and in the video, a group of police officers carrying balloons and flowers can be seen outside the residence.

‘Happy Birthday’ plays on a speaker before a cop in a face mask announces the officers are giving the flowers and cake to Salazar on her 100th birthday.

She can be seen sitting at her front door and clapping along as the cops pay tribute to her.

Local media report she said “I think it was beautiful company”.

According to her granddaughter, Clara Mosquera, Felisa is known as the “famous granny” because she appeared in a music video of the song ‘Mis Planes Son Amarte’ (‘My Plans Are To Love You) by Colombian singer Juanes.

According to the latest figures from the Johns Hopkins University, Colombia has registered 5,949 cases of COVID-19 and 269 deaths.
