Cops Searching For Man Who Shot Girl, 4, In Road Rage Row Over Parking Space

Cops are searching for a man who shot dead his neighbour’s four-year-old daughter over a long-running dispute over a shared parking space with her dad.

Ester de Oliveira died after being shot in the chest in the Brazilian city of Santo Andre on Sunday 11th July.

The four-year-old girl was with her parents and three siblings inside their car as they pulled up outside their home and were approached by their neighbour, Bruno Freitas.

He allegedly fired several shots at the family before fleeing the scene. Ester’s father, Jorge de Oliveira, was also wounded by a bullet and had to be taken to hospital.

Investigators believe the motive for the crime was an ongoing dispute between the two men over a parking space dating from 2018.

According to police chief Natalie Rodrigues, the suspect had already threatened Jorge with death.

The police are currently searching for Freitas, who is wanted for criminal injury, attempted murder and murder.

According to an anonymous witness, Jorge got out of his car with Ester in one arm and holding hands with another of his children when Freitas opened fire.

Ester’s mother then got into a physical struggle with her gun-wielding neighbour, with the witness telling SP1: “She tried to restrain him so he wouldn’t run away.

“He’d already emptied his gun. Then he started to pistol-whip her, and he fled with his wife.”

According to relatives, Ester’s mother and Freitas’ partner are cousins.

Reports said the two men had previously shared the parking space amicably until 2018 when tensions started to grow over delays in it being vacated.

The two men had previously come to blows over the space, with the police getting involved after Bruno was stabbed, after which he repeatedly threatened Jorge’s family.

The search for the suspect is ongoing.
