Cops Question New Husband After Young Wife Survives Fall From Abandoned Building But Then Freezes To Death

This dashing groom smiling at his lovely bride on his wedding day three months ago is being quizzed by cops following his young wife’s suspicious fatal fall from a third-floor window.

Sevval Abanoz, 21, fell from the window of an abandoned former hospital building near her home in the district of Polatli in the Turkish capital Ankara on Friday night, 28th January.

She was pronounced dead at the scene and her body was taken to the Ankara Forensic Medicine Institute for a post-mortem.

Though the autopsy report has not yet been released, the woman’s aunt has told reporters that her niece was seriously injured in the fall but nonetheless survived, but she then froze to death in sub-zero temperatures around an hour and a half later.

The police considered the young woman’s death suspicious and took in Samet Abanoz, her husband of three months, for questioning.

Grieving mum Gamze Kutlu did not need to wait for the autopsy report to point the finger at her son-in-law, who, she said, had often argued with her daughter during their engagement.

Grieving dad Ugur Kutlu, on the other hand, said it was too early to know if his daughter jumped of her own accord or if she was pushed.

The victim’s aunt Derya Abar, however, has claimed her niece had an argument with her husband just before she left home. She also said her in-law had a bad temper.

Gamze was quoted in local media as saying: “How will I live with this pain? How will I carry it?”

Investigations are ongoing, and local media did not report if the suspect was kept in custody.
