A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of brutally murdering this pretty young woman who was found on the side of the road with bruises covering her body and a gunshot wound to the head.

The unnamed suspect was arrested in connection with the murder of Zinhle Muthwa, 29, whose body was found Ndaya Reserve in Umbumbulu, south of Durban in South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal Province on New Year’s Day.

Muthwa had been reported missing on New Year’s Eve and she was found with bruises covering her body and injuries to her head. Reports state she had also suffered a gunshot wound to the head.

Initial reports suggested she had gone missing after being picked up in a white car and cops have now arrested an unnamed 30-year-old suspect along with seizing a pistol believed to have been the murder weapon.

The suspect is due to appear at Umbumbulu Magistrate’s Court today (Monday). It is unclear if he has been charged.

Police spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala told reporters: “A 30-year-old suspect was traced and arrested in the Umbumbulu area after an intensive investigation. A firearm suspected to be used in the commission of an offence was also confiscated by police.”

No motive has been provided for the murder.
