Cops Launch Internal Probe After Officers Filmed Street-Racing In Police Cars

This is the moment Mexican cops take part in an illegal street race in police vehicles, prompting an internal investigation.

The video was filmed in the municipality of Rio Grande in the Mexican state of Zacatecas.

A Facebook post showing the footage and posted by the media company Televisa Zacatecas has been viewed 116,000 times.

Two patrol cars belonging to the Municipal Police of Rio Grande were reportedly filmed taking part in an illegal street race in broad daylight over the weekend.

According to local reports, the incident was also witnessed by several people in the area.

In the footage, two police vehicles are seen on the quiet road as a man standing between them signals the start of the race.

The drivers rev their engines and the two patrol cars speed off in front of a small group of onlookers.

The viral images eventually reached the municipal authorities, which released a statement confirming that an internal investigation is underway and those involved have been removed from their duties.

The internal probe continues.
