Cops Investigate Mystery Email 8 Days After Mum Killed As Both Daughters Stand Trial

Italian cops are investigating a mysterious email they received from an anonymous sender tipping them off days after a woman was killed but which they ignored, with both her daughters suspected of murdering her.

Laura Ziliani, 55, was found dead at the beginning of August after she went missing from her mountain house in Temu near the Italian city of Brescia on 8th May.

The three main suspects are her daughters Silvia, 27, and Paola Zani, 19, along with Silvia’s boyfriend Mirto Milani, 27, who were arrested in the Italian town of Brescia on 24th of September.

The body was found near the Oglio River, and an autopsy revealed that there was Benzodiazepine present in Laura’s bloodstream when she died, which is a drug that can be used to sedate people.

Believing that it was not the drug that killed Laura, but that she was sedated and then a pillow was used to suffocate her, the authorities immediately began looking for suspects.

After arresting Laura’s daughters, the police also arrested Silvia’s boyfriend who is believed to have helped with the murder and concealing the body.

Although the trio is being held separately, with the sisters on remand at the Brescia prison of Verziano while Mirto remains in isolation at the Canton Mombello prison, they have all kept silent and have so far refused to cooperate with the police, according to local media.

During the latest hearing on 28th September, the sisters appeared together in front of Judge Alessandra Sabatucci, while Mirto was questioned separately.

According to reports, it has emerged that the police received an anonymous email eight days after the victim was reported missing.

According to the news site Affaritaliani, the email was sent on 16th May, but was ignored by investigators until now.

The anonymous message said: “My neighbour took an unconscious lady from the back of a car. I was paid for my silence, but I am ready to negotiate a new agreement”, with the sender adding that the woman was “Mrs Laura”.

The police are reportedly working to track down the anonymous sender.
