This is the moment a man appears to repeatedly molest a nine-year-old girl buys sweets in a supermarket alongside a toddler.

The incident was filmed by the store’s CCTV camera in the township of Bandar Country Homes in the district of Gombak located in the western Malaysian state of Selangor and posted on Facebook where it has been widely shared.

In the footage, the young victim, wearing pink clothes, is seen picking out treats with a small toddler.

The suspect then comes up behind the girl, grabs her waist with both hands and appears to thrust his groin into her backside.

The stunned girl looks around at the man, who walks past while seemingly straightening his crotch area.

When the man returns, the nine-year-old bravely puts herself between the suspect and the toddler.

He then leans in and appears to try to kiss the girl, who turns on her heels and runs away. The toddler then runs off to follow her.

The local police have confirmed that they are trying to find the suspect, who still remains unidentified, according to reports.

Police spokesperson Samsor Maarof said: “A complainant (the victim’s father) lodged a police report after finding out about the incident from his wife at 8pm the same day.

“Efforts to track down and arrest the suspect are underway.”

The investigation is ongoing.
