Police in the city of Bungo-ono in southern Japan’s Oita Prefecture have arrested Toru Adachi, no age given, after they suspected him of having stolen ten pairs of women’s underwear from a vending machine selling the knickers in Oita City.

Upon his arrest police reportedly found around 1,100 pairs of women’s underwear in Adachi’s flat in the Miemachi neighbourhood of Bungo-ono city.

The knickers were reportedly packed into carrier bags as well as cases to store futons.

Reports suggest Adachi was accused of theft and he is said to have admitted his guilt to cops. It is unclear if he has been charged.

Investigators are looking to see if Adachi was responsible for 10 cases of underwear being stolen in the area in the last year.

In the photos, Adachi’s huge stash of women’s underwear can be seen laid out on the floor after it was found by police.

Burusera is the sexualised attraction to the underwear or school uniforms of girls or young women and is a word of Japanese origin. Burusera vending machines and shops sell women’s underwear for fetish purposes in Japan.

The investigation is ongoing.
