Cops Cheer Up Majorca Quarantine Kids With Performance

This is the moment a police officer plays the recorder and a small drum in the streets to cheer up the children in quarantine in Majorca.

The officer, identified in reports as Miquel, was applauded by residents and their children after his performance in the streets of Manacor, in the island of Majorca, in the eastern Spanish region of the Balearic Islands.

In the video recorded from a balcony and shared by the local police union, the officer can be seen playing a flabiol, a small flute similar to a recorder, and a small drum as his partner records him.

The officers’ have their motorbike lights flashing as the musical cop plays a traditional song from the local Sant Antoni festival.

Reports state the officer played ‘Primer Ball de los Dimonis” (First Dance of the Demons), from the festival which is the town’s main tourist attraction.

Local media report the officers had gone to the area as a family there had been going through a tough time. Miquel decided to perform to cheer up their children and netizens loved the gesture, such as ‘conchivillamil’ who said: “These gestures are very welcome and cheer us up”.

According to the latest figures from the Johns Hopkins University, Spain has registered 85,195 confirmed cases of coronavirus with 7,340 deaths and 14,709 recovered.
