Two cops have been arrested after this pretty university student fell from the window of a seventh-floor flat where they were drinking to the street below.
The incident took place in the district of Korfez in the north-western Turkish province of Kocaeli at around 6.30am on Sunday, 9th January.
University student Sedefnur Caglar, 23, went with her police officer boyfriend to the home of another police officer in the neighbourhood of Yavuz Sultan Selim.
There, the three and another young woman consumed alcoholic beverages before the incident took place on Sunday morning.
Locals who saw the young woman fall from the seventh-floor window called the emergency services.
Paramedics who came to the scene took the young woman to the Kocaeli Derince Training and Research Hospital.
According to reports, the young woman, who was studying at the Kocaeli University Faculty of Architecture and Design, suffered numerous fractures in the incident.
At the time of reporting, she remained in a serious condition in the intensive care unit, and her life remained at risk.
The police arrested the two cops, identified by their initials A.A. and O.C., as well as O.C.’s girlfriend, identified by the initials E.S., ages not stated.
The cops have been temporarily suspended from exercising their profession.
A.A. reportedly told the police during questioning that the young woman had asked to see his phone, but they got into an argument when he refused to hand it over.
He said she then jumped out of the window.
O.C. and E.S., meanwhile, have told the police that they were asleep when the incident took place and only woke up when they heard the subsequent shouting.
They said they then looked out of the window and saw the young woman lying on the ground below.
According to local media reports, the young woman had tried to take her own life on a previous occasion and had been taken to hospital by her boyfriend.
The investigation is ongoing.
