Cops Arrest Parents And Grandparents Of Missing Boy, 1, After Evidence Suggests They Killed Him In Ritual Sacrifice

Cops have arrested the parents and grandparents of this cute one-year-old boy who went missing amid fears he was killed and burned in a ritual sacrifice.

Police officers arrested the relatives of Wesley Carvalho Ferreira, aged 1 year and 10 months and who has been missing since December, on Monday night, 21st February.

The boy’s aunt had reported the youngster as missing on 9th February after her sister (who is the boy’s mother) told her he had been kidnapped by two hooded men in the centre of the city of Teresina, in the north-eastern Brazilian state of Piaui, at around 6am on 29th December.

The police began investigating and swiftly believed they were dealing with a case of murder and concealment of a corpse, not least because of the time elapsed between the alleged kidnapping and the filing of the missing person report.

Police spokesman Mateus Zanatta believes the young boy was killed in a ritual sacrifice after the family had fasted for two weeks.

He told reporters: “The Civil Police [Brazil’s investigative police force] has already ruled out the hypothesis of the kidnapping of this child and is working with other lines of investigation and one of these is that the victim’s family fasted for two weeks, praying, and then sacrificed this child, setting fire to his body.”

The boy’s mother defended herself by claiming she had declined to report the alleged kidnapping because she and her husband were being threatened. She also said she did not tell her relatives at the time, as she was afraid of how they would react.

The boy’s aunt Maria do Socorro Costa said she did not understand why it took her sister and brother-in-law so long to tell anyone about their son’s disappearance, which she said she only discovered when she went to their home.

She told reporters: “[I asked] ‘did you file a report?’, [she replied] ‘no’, and I became infuriated, ‘why didn’t you tell me? You have to report it the same day, it’s been two months’. Then I didn’t even think, I just grabbed her, her documents, took her mother-in-law with us and we went to the the police station in the city centre, as it happened there.”
