Cops Arrest Mum For Stabbing Dead Own Two Sons, 6 And 3

Cops have arrested a mother for stabbing her own two sons, aged 6 and 3, to death.

The incident took place in the neighbourhood of Paiol in the municipality of Guapimirim in the south-eastern Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro at around 1.30pm on Monday, 10th January.

According to reports, Stephany Ferreira Peixoto, aged 36, killed her two sons, Bruno Leonardo, 6, and Arthur Moises, 3, and then tried to kill herself.

According to investigators, she called her husband and told him she was killing herself. The man then ran to the residence, but was unable to gain entry.

Neighbours then called the police, and officers entered the property, but only to find the boys dead and their mother bloodied.

She was taken to the Hospital Municipal Jose Rabello de Mello, where, at the time of reporting, she remained in a stable condition under police custody.

The cops seized a knife from the scene, and the boys’ bodies were taken to the morgue in the neighbouring city of Teresopolis.

According to police chief Antonio Silvino Teixeira, after stabbing her sons, the suspect had tried to cut her wrists.

She will be formally charged with aggravated murder, and she and other witnesses will be questioned in the coming days.

The area around the house has been sealed off, and the Civil Police (Brazil’s investigative police force) are currently working to ascertain the motive.

The Municipal Council of Guapimirim has issued a statement about the incident describing the boys’ deaths as “an irreparable loss”.
