Cops have arrested a midwife for issuing a fake birth certificate for a baby girl registered to a couple who bought her off a serial-killer couple who murdered her mother.

Mexican officials arrested midwife Carmela ‘N’ for human trafficking in the form of illegal adoption.

They believe she issued a false birth certificate for a two-month-old girl, claiming her parents were a couple who bought the infant from the mother’s murderers in September 2018.

Juan Carlos Hernandez Bejar and Patricia Martinez Bernal were arrested in October 2018 and subsequently sentenced to prison on nine counts of femicide and one of people trafficking.

The couple was found guilty of killing the baby girl’s 28-year-old mother in the municipality of Ecatepec de Morelos on 6th September 2018.

After killing her, the couple took her baby and sold her to another couple, named as Adrian Solis Mancera and Rosa Laura Parada Ortiz, later that month.

The couple who bought the baby subsequently met with the midwife so she could issue the youngster a false birth certificate registering the pair as the baby’s parents.

Following their arrest, Hernandez and Martinez informed officers of the missing baby’s whereabouts during questioning.

The officers subsequently rescued the youngster and arrested her buyers, who were later handed prison sentences.

Investigators subsequently identified Carmela ‘N’ as a participant in the crime and her arrest was ordered and carried out. She is currently in preventive custody awaiting trial.

Hernandez, 35, and Martinez, 40 or 41, have been dubbed the ‘Monsters of Ecatepec’ for the 10 to 20 murders they committed between 2012 and 2018.

Arrested while transporting human remains in a pram, they subsequently confessed to feeding body parts to their pet dogs and even eating their victims’ flesh themselves.

The victims were typically young women who were raped before being beheaded and dismembered.

Hernandez and Martinez are each serving a 327-year prison sentence.
