A Russian policeman who wanted to show how rich he was by using a bottle of Jack Daniels as anti-freeze to clean ice from his car windscreen has been fired.

The bizarre video was recorded in the city of Novosibirk, in the Novosibirsk Oblast region in southern Russia where the man works and it was posted on social media where it was widely shared.

In the clip, the unnamed police officer can be seen opening a bottle of Jack Daniels bourbon before he empties it into the car’s tank.

Onlookers can be heard giggling and the cop says: “I wanted to leave it for New Year’s eve but the job is of the highest importance.

“What can I do since I have no anti-freeze left, and you know what? I can afford it, I’m working in the Ministry of Internal Affairs.”

The cop then gets into the car and turns on the windscreen wipers joking that he likes the “posh smell” of the bourbon as a coolant.

Local media report however that the man has now been sacked by police in the city of Novosibirsk in central Russia for ‘misconduct defaming the honor’ of the Russian force.

Netizens were largely surprised about the punishment saying it was not such a big deal.

Online user ‘stesila’ said: “I used vodka quite a lot in cases like that. No biggie.”

Another one ‘Pirat38’ commented: “If he isn’t that stupid, he’ll appeal this case in court and will be able to get his position back.”

While ‘Rusik177’ added was one of the critical voices saying: “I bet the cop simply wanted to show off – how stupid of him.”
