Cop To Be Sanctioned After Exposing Beating From Boss In Footage That Has Gone Viral

This video allegedly shows a police chief in Indonesia beating up one of his subordinates, and the victim now faces sanctions after he shared the footage online and it went viral.

The incident took place in the town of Nunukan, which is located in North Kalimantan Province in Indonesia.

The footage shows a police officer helping some women move a table when suddenly a man identified by local media as his boss and named as Police Chief Syaiful Anwar marches over to him and begins physically assaulting him.

The victim falls to the ground before a woman manages to convince the police chief to stop the violent beating.

The incident has caused quite a stir in Indonesia, especially after the footage was shared online, allegedly by the victim, according to local media reports.

Local media outlet Bisnis reports that the latest development is that the victim, named only as Brigadier SL, also faces sanctions for alleged violations of the code of ethics.

Head of Public Relations of the North Kalimantan Police, Kombes Pol Budi Rachmad, is quoted as saying: “Yes, the culprit is SL, he is on duty at the Nunukan Police Information Centre.”

Local media reported that the victim admitted that he had distributed the footage of the incident to various parties and now faces prosecution.

The public relations officer added: “The video recording went viral by SL, who was beaten by the police chief […].”

It is reported that the police chief assaulted the victim because of a “Zoom meeting” that had suffered from technical difficulties.

The police chief has since been removed from his position while the incident is being investigated.

Local media reported that the Kaltara Regional Police Chief has appointed Ricky Hadiyanto as interim Nunukan Police Chief.
