A Russian cop who ran over and seriously injured a teenage girl on a zebra crossing stabbed her in the neck to stop her screaming and drove off.
The cop, Anton Bezchetvertev, has now gone on trial after he was tracked down, and when the shocking elevations were revealed, the evidence was regarded as so strong that his wife left him, taking their three children with her, and he was kicked out of the force.
He was also arrested and has now been transferred from Nizhny Novgorod Oblast to Samara Oblast where the case, chaired by Judge Elena Gribova, got underway at the Regional Court yesterday (21st February).
He is accused of killing the 15-year-old girl, name not disclosed, after ramming into her with his Toyota RAV4 on a pedestrian crossing in the village of Petra Dubrava in Samara Oblast on 29th July, 2021.
According to prosecutors, the officer hit the girl on the crossing, and they reportedly accept that he first tried to comfort her on the ground.
However, the girl kept screaming and Bezchetvertev was scared she would attract attention, so he stabbed her in the neck five times, also according to prosecutors.
It has not yet been revealed how he was tracked down, but there were rumours of a possible intimate relationship between the girl and her alleged killer. However, the police and the victim’s family have both denied the claims.
Lieutenant Colonel Bezchetvertev lost his rank when he was fired on the day of his arrest on 31st July, and he was immediately placed in preventive custody.
During the trial, the court heard how Bezchetverchev’s wife filed for divorce after the alleged murder and took their three children with her.
The case is ongoing.
