This is the moment a police officer puts a man in a headlock and bundles him into a patrol car before claiming it was because he had allegedly urinated in the street.

The footage does not show the moment the man allegedly peed on the street, but it does show a police officer apparently exchanging words with him before suddenly grabbing him in a chokehold and shoving him into the patrol vehicle.

The incident was filmed in the city of Naucalpan de Juarez in the central Mexican state of Mexico after the man was followed for the alleged offence.

In the video, the man is seen talking on his phone before a patrol jeep parks up and an officer exchanges a few words with him.

The cop then appears to grab the man in a headlock before dragging him towards the patrol vehicle.

A second policeman walks to the pavement and picks up the phone the suspect had dropped.

The detainee is bundled into the vehicle and the cop closes the door before walking to the driver’s seat. The squad car is then seen driving away shortly afterwards.

According to local media, the officer who placed the man in a headlock is being investigated by the authorities.

The Mexican newspaper ‘El Universal’ said the policeman justified his actions by claiming he had seen the man peeing on the street so they decided to follow him.

It is unclear if the detainee has been charged with the alleged act of urinating in public.
