Cop Mum Shot Dead By Armed Robbers On Bikes

This pretty young Argentinian woman working as a presidential guard and who had fulfilled her dream of becoming a police officer has died after being shot in the chest by armed robbers who apparently recognised that she was a cop when they tried to steal her mobile phone.

The young woman, Ariana Micaela Romero, 23, was a mother of a young daughter who was murdered after she had gone to a shop in civilian clothing and without her gun in the city of Quilmes, province of Buenos Aires, east Argentina last Sunday 16th August.

She was with a friend and was approached by six people travelling on motorbikes, who demanded that she hand over her phone. When the young woman refused, one of the men suddenly shouted that she was a police officer, and without any warning, she was shot in the chest.

Argentinian police say they have now arrested four of the six alleged murderers of the young woman, who was an agent of the Argentine Federal Police (PFA).

After she was shot, Romero was rushed to the nearest hospital by a group of neighbours where she finally died due to the severity of her injury.

According to Infobae, officers from the Homicide Investigation Division of the PFA carried out several searches in the southern area of ​​the city of Quilmes on Monday 17th August.

After the searches, the officers arrested four individuals suspected of having participated in the attempted robbery and subsequent murder of Romero.

Reportedly one of the detainees is 17 years old so his case will go to the Court of Juvenile Criminal Responsibility of Quilmes.

The other detainees are in court accused of a possible crime of homicide on the occasion of robbery.

Ariana Micaela Romero was the mother of a two-year-old girl and had been in the Federal Police for a year.

She was recently transferred to the Protection Division of the Presidential Residence of Olivos, the official residence of the President of Argentina.
