This is the viral moment a cop rides on the bonnet of a moving car before jumping off in front of it to force the driver to pull over after he ran a red light.

The scene was recorded by an onlooker in the city of Bandung, in southern Indonesia’s West Java Province after a police officer named in reports as Brigadier Natan saw a driver who refused to pull over when asked to do so by a fellow officer.

Natan then reportedly saw that the car was about to cross a red light and he jumped onto the bonnet.

In the video, which has been viewed over 1.3 million times online, the traffic police officer can be seen face-down on the bonnet of the moving car.

He has his arms spread across the windscreen and he then lowers himself to the ground in front of the moving car, having to take quick steps backwards to escape the vehicle running over him.

The driver then comes to a halt and local Police Commissioner Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko said Natan then checked the licence and identity of the driver.

The officer did not suffer any injuries in the incident and he handed the driver a ticket.

The police commissioner says the driver, whose name is not reported but is 24 years old and a master’s student, could have criminal charges pressed against him. His driving licence has been confiscated.
