In the clip, the cop, who has been identified as has been identified as Brigadier Eka Setiawa can be seen lying on the bonnet of the vehicle and holding on as the cop drives forward with no apparent regard for his safety.

He told local media that the incident happened after he spotted the vehicle illegally parked on the pavement and asked the driver – identified as a 54-year-old man named Tavipuddin – for his licence and registration but the driver refused.

According to local media, the pair ended up in a row with the man saying that the cop had no right to ask for his documents or give him a ticket.

Eka told local media: “We told him ‘Sir, if you don’t want your car to be towed, we will ticket you’. But he didn’t want [to cooperate with us], even after we told him politely, so the driver attempted to run away.”

The man first reportedly tried to flee by reversing but managed to hit a motorbike.

The hero cop then reportedly launched himself onto the bonnet of the car in a bid to stop the driver from fleeing.

However, as seen in the video, the driver continued to drive forward.

“I got on top of the car hood, then I was carried as far as 200 metres,” Eka added.

It is unclear which charges the driver might be facing following the incident.
