A police officer and a security guard have been charged with brutally stabbing and raping this teenage model.
Venezuelan model Stefani Flores, 18, was attacked in a taxi she hailed in the municipality of San Fernando, the most populous city in Trinidad and Tobago, on 11th August.
She was reportedly recorded by CCTV cameras getting into the taxi and it seems she was unaware that there were two other men who were in the back seat when she flagged down the ride.
Reports state she had her hands tied and her face covered before she was driven away, and repeatedly raped before being stabbed.
The police reported to local newspaper Newsday that Flores only managed to save her life by playing dead. The aggressors then threw her onto the street, where she was found bleeding by another driver.
She was taken to San Fernando General Hospital with serious injuries.
The Venezuelan embassy in Trinidad and Tobago, the former of which lies just 11 kilometres (6.8 miles) off the northeastern coast of Venezuela, said two of the three suspects have now been charged with attempted murder, rape, robbery and kidnapping.
The police in Trinidad and Tobago managed to identify the pair thanks to the licence plates of the taxi in which the woman was seen getting inside and where she was then attacked.
Local newspaper Trinidad Express report an unnamed police officer, 26, and Diego Martin, a security guard, 20, were arrested and charged. The authorities are searching for the third suspect.
The Venezuelan embassy confirmed the victim remains in hospital and is recovering well from her injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
