This is the moment a speeding cop car with its sirens on crashes into the back of a lorry – sending the patrol vehicle flipping through the air and killing one of the officers inside.
The accident occurred on Sevastopol Avenue in the Russian capital Moscow and was recorded by a passing driver’s dashboard camera.
In the video, a police car can be seen with its sirens flashing when the driver moves to overtake a lorry in the outside lane. As the cop car reaches the outside of the lorry the driver of the heavy goods vehicle moves to the right, hitting the front of the police vehicle.
The patrol car rolls onto its roof before landing back on its wheels appearing seriously damaged. According to the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Moscow, the inspector who was driving the police car died at the scene.
The second police officer who was travelling inside the car was injured but the severity of their injuries has not been reported.
An investigation into the incident has been launched but it is unclear if any arrests have been made. Neither the police officers or the lorry driver have been identified in reports.
