A 31-year-old Serbian cop is believed to have killed this pretty nursery school teacher and himself by setting off a hand grenade in his Opel Vectra when she tried to end a two-year affair.
The married police officer and dad Pavle Rakonjac, 31, is suspected of detonating the hand grenade inside the car while he was trying to get back with his former mistress after they split several months back.
The police officer and Marina Petkovic, 28, were both killed in the car blast on an old military road near the settlement of Nova Pazova in the northern Serbian autonomous province of Vojvodina.
According to local media, the married father-of-two had been having an affair with Petkovic, his children’s beautiful nursery school teacher, for over two years.
However, the fling reportedly ended in September last year with Petkovic quitting her job and moving back to her hometown, apparently to distance herself from Rakonjac.
Her friends told local media that she wanted to make a fresh start and soon have her own family, breaking off all contact with the married cop in the process.
They also denied that Petkovic asked the policeman to divorce his wife, adding that she was adamant on beginning a new life.
Meanwhile, colleagues of the deceased officer, who had been a cop for about a year, were shocked by the incident as Rakonjac had always seemed like a devoted family man of faith, according to local media.
The investigation continues.
