Church Minister And Father Of Six Collapses While Singing Gospel Song At Religious Service

This is the moment a church minister and father of six collapses in the middle of singing a gospel song during a religious service.

Geter da Silva, aged 48, suffered a stroke while belting out a rendition of the gospel song ‘Soldado Ferido’ (‘Wounded Soldier’) at the church service in the neighbourhood of Sao Francisco de Assis in the city of Cachoeiro de Itapemirim in the Brazilian state of Espirito Santo on Sunday, 17th October.

Footage from the service shows how devotees rush over to help the minister after he falls back onto the man sat behind him just after singing the lyric “don’t let a wounded soldier die”.

He was taken from the So o Senhor E Deus (The Lord He Is God) Church to the Hospital Santa Casa de Misericordia.

His condition worsened, and he was transferred to a hospital in the state capital, Vitoria, where he died on Wednesday, 20th October.

In addition to working as a church minister, Da Silva also worked as a security guard for the Town Hall of Cachoeiro de Itapemirim and sold ice lollies in the town centre.

Church minister Joao Amorim said: “Pastor Geter had a very beautiful past. He turned away from the gospel and went through a difficult time. A few years ago, he returned to the church with his wife…”

Local media reported that his funeral and burial would take place in the neighbourhood of Coronel Borges in Cachoeiro de Itapemirim today (Thursday, 21st October).

He leaves behind a wife and six children.
