This is the moment a dog gets kicked out of a restaurant after sneaking in to polish off the scraps of food left over by diners.

The video was filmed at a restaurant in the city of Chengdu in the Chinese province of Sichuan on 12th November.

According to the news site Baidu, the dog was being looked after by the restaurant owners for a friend when it suddenly broke free.

The hungry pooch entered the main hall and made a beeline for a table with a group of diners who were reportedly frightened by the black dog.

The pooch then started tucking into the group’s leftovers before being taken away by a worker.

In the footage, the dog is seen licking the plates clean as diners stand clear and a man, possibly a restaurant worker, slaps the animal and drags it away by the scruff of its neck.

He leads the chubby pooch towards the door, however it appears reluctant to cooperate with him.

The dog then apparently breaks free and is seen heading back to the table and plates of leftovers as the footage ends.

It is currently unclear if the dog managed to eat more of the leftovers after the end of the footage.
