CHILLING MOMENT: Huge Ice Sheet Crushes Tourist To Death In Cave

This is the horrific moment when a huge piece of ice detaches from the ceiling of a cave and crushes a Brazilian tourist to his death in Argentina.

Chilling footage shows the moment when the chunk of ice falls on the unidentified man’s head at the Cueva de Jimbo in Ushuaia, southern Argentina on 3rd November.

The man was among a group of Brazilian tourists visiting the natural attraction and the person filming can be heard warning his companions against getting too close.

The man can be heard saying “Be very careful” just moments before the huge piece of ice detaches from the cave ceiling and hits one of the group on the head.

The person filming can be heard shouting “My God in heaven” before running over to his fallen companion as others in the group scream.

Comision de Auxilio (Rescue Committee) staff arrived on the scene hours later – as the site can only be reached after a long hike – and confirmed the tourist’s death.

Since 2021, Tierra del Fuego National Park authorities have warned of the danger of getting too close to the Cueva de Jimbo.

Studies had found it was in danger of collapse and that fragments of rock and ice were constantly falling from the cave ceiling due to melting ice.

There is a sign warning visitors not to enter the cave at the location.

At the time of reporting, the removal of the deceased’s body was imminent and an autopsy has already been ordered.
