A pair of home-alone dogs trashed a house so badly its owner has told how she thought she had been burgled when she got home.

Owner Ms Li had left the pups alone for a week and put out huge bowls of food and water for them at their home in the city of Ordos, in the province of Inner Mongolia.

She had even put down pet pee mats to make sure they were comfortable, reported local media.

But when she got back, the home was so dishevelled she thought it had been ransacked by thieves.

A video of the aftermath show dog food and what looks like poo scattered all over the floor along with chewed-up clothes, toys and what seem to be shreds of furniture.

The video was shared on Douyin – the Chinese version of TikTok.

The destructive duo were as filthy as the floor they had messed up and it allegedly took Ms Li over an hour to get them clean.

Netizens were equally shocked and amused by Ms Li’s video.

They poked fun at the situation and wrote comments saying the two dogs completely redecorated the home.

One user, under the handle ‘Big Z’, joked: “I can smell it through the screen!”
