This is the funny moment a cheeky monkey snatches a woman’s shopping bag in the middle of the street and helps itself to the food she was carrying.

The footage was filmed in the city of Zhangjiajie, in the Chinese province of Hunan.

In the video, the monkey can be seen running on the street and ignoring several passersby before it suddenly snatches a woman’s plastic shopping bag filled with food.

The woman can be seen holding a child’s hand, and the two are apparently stunned and frightened by the monkey’s move, as they both start screaming and try to escape as they drop the bag.

As the monkey takes some food from the bag lying on the ground, someone manages to grab it with the remaining things inside as the monkey leaves the scene with its stolen wares.

According to a local tour guide, who was not named in reports, the monkeys steal food in wrappers after having learned from watching people that the packages’ contents are edible.

According to the guide, the easiest targets are the women and the elderly, but also men who do not look fierce.

Recently, another similar incident was recorded in the same city.

The video of the prior incident shows a woman, who was not named in reports, sitting at her desk while wearing earphones and looking at her mobile phone.

Out of nowhere, a monkey appears from behind and jumps on the desk after spotting food on it.

It then instantly steals the grub right in front of her eyes before running away, leaving her screaming in shock.
