Spanish motorcycle champion Ana Carrasco has shown fans her shocking ‘zipper’ scar down her back after fracturing two vertebrae during a test run.

Carrasco, 23, who won the 2018 World Supersport 300 Championship riding a Kawasaki Ninja 400 with the David Salom Junior Team, is recovering from her operation at the Hospital Universitari Dexeus in the city of Barcelona in the Spanish region of Catalonia.

Carrasco, who became the first woman in history to win a World Championship in solo motorcycle road racing, underwent the op after coming off her bike during a test circuit in Portugal.

The Supersport 300 rider fractured two vertebrae (D4 and D6), during a test circuit at the Estoril race track in Portugal on 10th September.

Two weeks after the accident, Carrasco wanted to show her Instagram followers the large ‘zipper’ scar on her upper back.

She accompanied the photo with the message: “They say that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger… well here we are, wanting to come back stronger than ever!”

Carrasco took part in her first competition on 2013, and she was the youngest woman to ever compete in such a race.

In 2017, at just 20 years of age, she became the first woman to win a world motorcycling championship in the mixed category.
