These images show how cemetery officials have dug three graves and buried people in the middle of a road as they claim they own the land where a logistics company has laid tarmac.

The confrontation between the administration of the Shirokorechenskoye cemetery in the city of Yekaterinburg in western Russia and the owner of the logistics terminal, Kirill Govorukhin, reportedly started two years ago.

The two parties are fighting over the ownership of a piece of land located at the entrance to the logistics terminal. Govorukhin reportedly invested in laying down new tarmac at the entrance to improve the terminal’s facilities but the cemetery administration were angered by this.

They then decided to dig three graves in the tarmac, making it almost impossible for lorries to enter and leave the terminal.

Images show the three graves, which are reportedly now being used, in the middle of the road and cemetery workers reportedly took half a day to dig the final grave as they needed to break through the tarmac.

Govorukhin said: “Can you imagine when the snow melts down… a grave in the middle of the asphalt.”

He added that the graves have caused his business losses of 200,000 RUB (2,470 GBP).

The businessman has reportedly filed a complaint with the local police but has not heard back from them.

Netizen ‘Arkasha’ said: “I feel sorry for the people who got buried like that.”

And ‘Schastliviy chelovek’ added: “Seriously, what was this man thinking about when he bought the land by the graveyard, it was pretty clear from the very beginning that there might be some sort of … challenges.”
