Arsenal midfielder Dani Ceballos has said his current boss Mikel Arteta is “what Arsenal needs right now” and he will “prove” to him “that I am ready to play at Arsenal” after his recent injury.
Spanish international Ceballos, 23, made the comments during an interview with Spanish newspaper ‘Marca’ where he spoke about his time at Arsenal after his season-long loan deal from Real Madrid in this past summer transfer window.
Ceballos said: “Every footballer in the world would like to play in the Premier League before retiring. I got to do it young. I love football and whoever loves football has to like the Premier.
“It is a league that, physically speaking, is a bit more demanding than the Spanish one and tactically and technically speaking is advancing very quickly. It is very competitive.”
Ceballos went on to talk about current Arsenal boss Arteta, 37, saying: “It is true he got here when the club was in a difficult situation but mentally, he is a manager I think Arsenal needs right now.
“Since I have been back working with him for just two weeks, now is when I have to prove to him that I am ready to play for Arsenal.”
When speaking about his reason to go to Arsenal, the Spanish superstar said: “For a club like Liverpool to want you is a great pride but my final decision was to go to Arsenal because Emery took me by the hand and told me to go there together.
“Klopp is a great manager but you have to look at the philosophy of the style from each side. Footballers with my style of play would not fit in a club like Liverpool in the best way.”
When asked about his possible return to Real Madrid the midfielder said: “Right now I am not thinking about it, I am focused on Arsenal.
“Football can change from one day to another. For now, let’s hope I can achieve my objectives with Arsenal and then my dream is to play with the national team in a final.”
Arsenal are currently 10th in the Premier League with 31 points and are set to face Newcastle on Sunday 16th February.
