Pic shows: An unidentified woman steals the balnket of a stray cat which fights back and tries to take the blanket back. This is the moment a cat refuses to give up its prized blanket which it had been given by a vet to keep warm when a passerby tries to steal it. The woman then ends up in a bizarre tug-of-war with the moggy over the blanket before she finally succeeds and pulls it free from its claws. The incident was caught on CCTV cameras outside a veterinary clinic in the city of Yalova in the province of the same name in north-western Turkey. Vet Berna Ozer had put out a cardboard box lined with a warm blanket for the stray cat, which she calls Esma, outside the Yalova Veterinarian Clinic. The CCTV footage shows the cat accidentally tip over the box just as a tall woman, carrying a handbag and a bag of shopping, passes by. At first it looks as if the woman is going to help the cat as she bends down to pick up the box and put it back on the step outside the clinic. But then she seemingly takes a fancy to the blanket inside, picking it up as the cat tries to snatch it back with its claws. However, the woman is far too strong for Esma and pulls the blanket away before using it to swat the little cat. Ms Ozer said she could not believe her eyes when she checked the CCTV footage and saw what had happened. She added: "What do you call a creature who steals a blanket from an animal in this cold weather?" The vet has now replaced Esma's blanket and put up a sign outside her clinic asking people not to steal it. Netizen 'Mumin Sengul' commented: "What did you want from the blankets... Humanity is finished", while 'Nami deger' added: "Son of a b*tch." Turkey has hundreds of thousands of stray cats.
