This video – seen five million times in less than 24 hours – shows a man on a scooter carrying five women passengers including one straddled across the headlight.

Footage taken on the streets of Hengli, a town in the city of Dongguan in China’s southern province of Guangdong, shows electric scooter owner Mr Luo riding without a motorcycle helmet on 16th March.

In video taken by witnesses, Mr Luo can be seen carrying three women on the seat behind him, one on his lap and one sat on the vehicle’s headlight.

None of the six scooter passengers are wearing a motorcycle helmet as the vehicle darts through the street, the video shows.

In one of the videos, it can be seen that the driver even needs to peer around the woman in front sitting on the light who is obstructing his view.

Dongguan police said they tracked Mr Luo and summoned him and his passengers for questioning.

Mr Luo claimed he was eating at a restaurant when some of the women asked him to give them a lift to a local market.

After he agreed, the rest wanted to tag along and climbed onto his vehicle.

Mr Luo told police he had “no choice”.

He now faces fines for offences including driving without a licence, overloading his vehicle, and riding without a helmet.

His punishment, which is not expected to be harsh, has not been announced.

Social media user ‘Qi Lvming’ wrote: “Some people are struggling to find wives, and here he is with five babes – or they could be sex workers.”

‘Guixin Live’ added: “I should buy an electric scooter.”
