He was detained for his alleged participation in the murder of Karen Hervey Ruiz, 23, and her boyfriend Lorenzo Rios, whose bodies were found badly burned inside a torched car on a street in the municipality of Valle de Santiago in Guanajuato on 8th December.

There have been no reports on the operation that led to the suspect’s arrest.

Investigations revealed that CJNG members first came into contact with the couple at an unnamed bar where one of the men reportedly offended Ruiz.

A row quickly ensued but no serious altercation took place inside the establishment, according to local sources.

However, eyewitness said that a group of people was waiting for the couple outside and forced them to leave with them, according to local newspaper La Verdad. (https://bit.ly/38MC4cP)

The incident is believed to have occurred days before their bodies were found in the burned vehicle, however, the exact date is unclear.

A judge placed Jose Manuel in preventative custody while the prosecution concluded their investigation against him.

The victims were in the area attending the funeral of Rios’ father who had died earlier this month. Both victims were passionate horse riders.
